Jamar’s guiding philosophy
He holds the professional designations Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) and Financial Services Certified Professional (FSCP), reflecting his commitment to professional development and providing clients with informed, practical financial guidance.
Throughout his career, Jamar has worked with individuals, families and businesses to help them better understand their insurance needs, protect what they have built and make more informed financial decisions. His approach is centred on making insurance and financial planning easier to understand, with recommendations grounded in each client’s circumstances, priorities and long-term objectives.
In 2019, Jamar founded Blackman Insurance Agent Inc., with a vision of building a modern, client-focused insurance practice that combines personal advice with technology and efficient service. Under his leadership, BIAI continues to develop beyond the traditional insurance agency model, with a focus on comprehensive insurance and financial solutions and long-term client relationships.
Jamar is also a Co-founder of Island Dollah, a Caribbean-focused financial technology initiative aimed at making financial information and planning more accessible and relevant to people across the region.
At the heart of Jamar’s work is a simple philosophy: help people understand their options, make informed decisions and put the right protection in place for the life they are building.

Outside BIAI, Tanya runs her own event management business and shares her restaurant and hotel experiences through social media blogging. Her interests reflect a love of bringing people together and making experiences memorable—the same personal warmth she brings to our clients.

Established in January 2019, Blackman Insurance Agent Inc. (BIAI) is a Barbados-based insurance agency focused on helping individuals, families and businesses protect what matters while making more informed decisions about their financial future.
BIAI is registered with the Financial Services Commission (FSC) (opens in a new tab) and operates as an independent agent for the Sagicor Group of Companies, providing clients with access to a range of insurance, mortgage and financial solutions.
Since its establishment, BIAI has built a reputation for strong client service and performance, including recognition as a top producer in mortgage sales.
A key part of the BIAI experience is our proprietary Insurance & Financial Portfolio software. This allows us to take a more structured and personalised approach to understanding each client’s circumstances, identifying potential gaps and developing tailored plans based on their protection needs, financial priorities and long-term goals.
Our work extends beyond simply arranging insurance policies.
